The statistics speak volumes about the dangers of smoking tobacco and the deadly effects it can have on your health. In the US, one of five deaths can be attributed to smoking cigarettes and about 450,000 people die from smoking yearly. The research has been out regarding the dangers of this habit, but has an alternative habit just as bad?
For years, people have been trying to find a way to curb their craving for smoking cigarettes. Some ways work for people for a while and other times cravings for nicotine win. Recently, a popular way to stop smoking has become mainstream, called electronic cigarettes.
The Rise of E-Cigarettes
Electronic cigarettes hit the market around 5 years ago, and needless to say, they were a hit. With the availability of a variety of flavors and nicotine levels, this was a prime way to try and quit smoking. However, some researchers are saying that this may not be the way to try and quit the hard habit. ‘Ecigs’ as they are usually called, have benefits and disadvantages that everyone should know about.
The Pros and Cons of E-Cigarettes
Some of the benefits of electronic cigarettes include providing the user with nicotine levels in their body to make them stay away from smoking. This is beneficial because cigarettes contain horrible carcinogens that are disastrous for the lungs and brain.
Some of the cons of e-cigarettes are that they are relatively new pieces of technology that are not regulated, meaning that health warnings, proper labels, and how-to instructions are not included. As well as this, some of the ingredients in an e-cigarette could be dangerous for humans and be just as bad for lung function as normal cigarettes.
While e-cigarettes are not as deadly as smoking cigarettes, not smoking period is the best option. While e-cigarettes are a reasonable alternative, finding other habits that are healthier is ideal. We hope you choose a healthy habit to diminish any dependence on nicotine.
