The month of December is easily the busiest time of year for many of us. With an endless amount of things on our to-do list, the holiday season can be overwhelming. Fortunately, we have compiled a list of do's and dont's to help you stay sane during the holiday season
First come the Do’s.
Do make a conscious effort to spread good cheer wherever you go. Although we think people should do this every day, it’s definitely much more common during this time of the year. Little things like giving someone a compliment, holding the door for them, giving up your spot in line, or simply wishing people a wonderful day can have a huge impact on them. We always say that happiness and health go hand in hand, so take some time to make people happy this season!
Do remember to keep your health in mind. Schedule your appointments for the upcoming year, whether it’s a yearly check-up, a mammogram, an MRI, a trip to the dentist, or even an eye exam. It’s easy to put stuff like this off when you’re busy with the holidays, but don’t let your health suffer as a result!
Do remain calm, no matter what goes wrong. A lot of people suffer from stress-related illnesses during this time of the year, so it’s important to always take things as they come and try to remain calm, cool, and collected throughout the holiday season.
Now, the Dont's.
Don’t put off all your shopping until the last minute. We’ve all seen that crazy person barreling through the mall on Christmas Eve with a wild look in their eyes as they begin the 7-hour trip to knock all their Christmas presents out in one go, and it’s safe to say that we don’t ever want to be that person. That person is stressed, that person goes to bed with a headache and wakes up with bags under their eyes resenting the holiday season. Don’t be that person.
Don’t forget to keep up with your weekly routines, whatever they might be. If you typically exercise for an hour each day, go ahead and keep doing that through the holiday season. If you need at least 8 hours of sleep each night, don’t deprive yourself just because it’s Christmas. Breaking from your routine can lead to sleep deprivation, crankiness, stress and anxiety, and much more! Stay on top of things to keep yourself happy and healthy.
Don’t forget to be thankful for everything you have: your health, your family, your friends, your job, your pet…whatever it is, take some time to appreciate it!
Happy Holidays from your Clovis Open MRI team!
