Dr. Joel Sievers of Portales, New Mexico opened Siever’s Sports Medicine in 2008 as a part of the downtown revitalization project. Originally from Amarillo, Texas, Dr. Sievers graduated from Texas Tech Medical School of Lubbock and completed his residency at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. He later went onto receive a fellowship in Sports Medicine from Marshall University in West Virgina.
Though his specialty is in family practice, Dr. Sievers’s passion for sports and providing care for athletes has been a lifelong commitment. Once a track and field athlete during his undergraduate studies at Concordia College, Sievers now works as the team physician for Eastern New Mexico University as well as at high schools within the area. Appropriately, Dr. Sievers likes to remain active, citing hiking, biking and weightlifting as some of his favorite activities. The Siever's Sports Medicine office offers a variety of services including digital x-ray, musculoskeltal ultrasounds, bracing, casting and custom splinting, fitness consultations and custom orthotics. As a non-surgical physician, Dr. Sievers’ patients appreciate his approach to rehabilitation and alternatives to invasive procedures. Using his advanced knowledge in evaluating injuries and created methods to treat them non-surgically, Dr. Sievers’ practice has gained a positive reputation throughout the community and surrounding areas.
